FAQs
Who operates Sudbrook Kinderhaus?
Sudbrook Kinderhaus, formerly Sudbrook School, was acquired by The German School London (Deutsche Schule London, DSL) on 31.03.2025. Both institutions worked closely together before the acquisition, share the same pedagogical vision and enjoy the green, natural surroundings in Petersham, Richmond.
Does my child/my family need to speak German in order to enrol?
Definitely not. The language at Sudbrook School is English. German speaking staff is on site, so that children will have the opportunity to learn German, if you wish them to. When they leave Sudbrook Kinderhaus, children can either proceed to the English system or choose to take a bi-lingual path at DSL’s Kinderhaus.

Yes, please refer to our Sessions page to view options.
What is the staff to child ratio?
Our staff to child ratio for 1-2 year-olds is 1 member of staff to 3 children, for 2-3 year-olds it is 1 to 5 and for 3+ year-olds it is 1 to 8.
How do you settle children?
Our staff are very experienced at settling new children. We work closely with parents to ensure the child is comfortable with the new surroundings and not being away from parents for too long periods of time initially. Parents are encouraged to stay with their child to support the settling in process at the start. The child’s time at nursery extends gradually once they are settled.
