We are Sudbrook

Our Values

At Sudbrook Kinderhaus, we understand how important it is for your child to feel safe, happy, and free to be themselves. That’s why we focus on nurturing each child’s individuality and allowing them to grow and learn at their own pace.

We warmly welcome children from all backgrounds and celebrate the unique qualities that make each one special.
As a parent, you want the very best for your child. And so do we. Our aim is to go above and beyond your expectations, offering exceptional early years care and education in an attentive and supportive environment.

Our dedicated team is always reflecting on how we can do better, ensuring your child receives the highest standard of care every single day.

A school at the heart of the community

Sudbrook has been at the heart of the community for nearly 60 years, teaching generations of children from local families. The school is based in a Village Hall on a quiet private road which backs on to Richmond Park. It is now owned by the German School London. The two schools share ethos and values and both offer first-class education in an international and friendly learning environment. We put our children at the centre, enabling them to express their individuality and promoting independent learning and critical thinking.

Our Parent Community

Parents are a child’s first and most enduring educators. That’s why we value working in close partnership with families, drawing on their knowledge and expertise to enrich the learning experience we offer.

We’re fortunate to have an active and engaged parent community, and we warmly encourage parents to actively take part in their child’s school life.
Parents are welcome to visit and to observe, lend a hand, or even lead an activity at Sudbrook Kinderhaus. Many parents enjoy attending our end-of-term performances and help organising our annual charity fundraiser.

Our school often becomes a place where both children and parents form lasting friendships which continue well beyond their time here at Sudbrook Kinderhaus.

Curriculum

At Sudbrook Kinderhaus, we support every child in reaching their full potential, helping them grow and learn at their own pace and letting them explore their environment. Through careful observation and ongoing assessment, our experienced and caring staff plan a curriculum tailored to your child’s unique needs and stage of development.  Each child is assigned a Key Person who ensures that the care and learning they receive reflect their interests, personality, and progress. This trusted adult will work closely with you to share insights and support your child’s journey.

Our team works collaboratively, so all children benefit from the range of experience and expertise across our staff.

We provide a rich, play-based curriculum that responds to each child’s needs and interests. Our approach supports the development of the Characteristics of Effective Learning, as outlined in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (2021) and Development Matters guidance.

As we plan and guide children’s learning, we carefully consider their individual learning rhythms and adapt our practice to support each child in the way that suits them best individually.

Our curriculum is designed to nurture the ways children learn, not just what they learn. This includes encouraging children to:

  • Play and explore – children try new things, use their imagination, and are curious about the world around them.
  • Be active learners – children stay focused, tackle challenges, and feel proud of what they achieve.
  • Create and think critically – children develop their own ideas, make connections, and find their own ways to solve problems.

We make sure every child is challenged and inspired through engaging activities that support progress across all areas of development. These areas are closely linked to the Early Learning Goals set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (2021).

Our aim: Helping your child grow and explore with confidence and joy.
